A brief moment that shifted my perspective forever.
It was a seemingly ordinary day filled with meetings and agendas, until a chance encounter outside a conference room opened my eyes to the depth of my own prejudice. As I stepped out of the room, my gaze fell upon an Asian staff member patiently waiting nearby. In that split second, a wave of unconscious biase flooded my mind. My initial reaction was not of curiosity or openness, but rather a reflexive judgment based on preconceived notions and societal conditioning.

I have been on a great achievement spree over the recent years and most of these accolades were something that I could never have dreamed off. 2020, a year that most of us was waiting for especially the 90’s kids. The hype about 2020 was all because we were taught during our younger days that Malaysia will be witnessing a self-sufficient industrialised nation including flying cars that is no where to be seen yet. When we let go of the toxic friends, the soul-wrecking work and any experiences that don’t serve our happiness, we are truly powerful and we feel “empowered.” The two words are interchangeable. We find our inner power when we give ourselves permission to dream, to act on our dreams and to create space by letting go of anything that isn’t in alignment with this.

In a world overflowing with words, true listening has quietly become an endangered art. We scroll, respond, and speak faster than we can feel.
